E-Mail Communication Assignment Purpose
Since E-mail is commonly used in academic and business it is important for you to understand the conventions of composition in order to communication clearly and effectively with professors and businesses.
Task
Tone: Write a short but formal email to an employer, a professor.
Situation: You are applying for a job or a graduate degree, and need a recommendation letter
Content: Ask for the letter, explain who you are, why you need the letter, when you need it, and why you are asking this person for the letter.
Length: About 125-150 words (three short paragraphs)
Organization: Have a subject line, greeting, message (purpose and action) and closing with your name.
Mechanics and Expression: Use white space between paragraphs. 2-3 lines for each paragraph.
Send to kyle.crocco@gmail.com before 8 a.m. on Monday, April 4. After 8 a.m., your email assignment is late and will lose 10% or 2 points.
Evaluation
Your email will be evaluated for organization, content, expression, grammar, and mechanics.
The essay is worth 20 points and counts for 5% of your grade.
